| Hi , Phishing emails keep getting better at looking legitimate. A message can copy a real company's logo, tone, and layout and still be a scam built to steal your password or money. The good news: most phishing emails share the same handful of tells, and a simple habit will catch nearly all of them. Anatomy of a phishing email Take an email that looks like a Microsoft security notice. Six small details give it away: | | Lookalike domain. The sender reads security@rnicrosoft.com. That "rn" is designed to look like the "m" in microsoft. | | | | Urgency. A 24-hour deadline is there to make you act before you think. | | | | Generic greeting. "Dear customer" instead of your actual name. | | | | Asks for credentials. It pushes you to enter or verify your password. | | | | "Verify" button. The link can mask where it really sends you. | | | | Attachment. An unexpected file (Account_Notice.zip) you never asked for. | | | How to verify if it's a scam | | Did you expect this email? If no, and it is asking you to click, log in, or send something, treat it as untrusted by default. | | | | Don't act. Pause and verify. The attacker counts on you reacting fast. Hold off on clicking, replying, or opening attachments. | | | | Inspect the sender and every link. Hover over the address and the link. Even if it looks real, it could be masked. Don't trust it. | | | | Verify through a separate channel. Don't reply or use any contact info from the email. Type the company's URL yourself, or call us directly. | | | | Report it, then delete. Forward it to us at support@systech.io, or use your "Report" button, then empty it from trash. | | | The golden rule If you are not 100% sure, don't click.
